Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how long you've been a part of our team?

My name is Trevor, I am originally from Wauwatosa but consider myself a Chicagoan. I have spent ten years working with animals and find this career to be very rewarding!

Q: Share a memorable or heartwarming moment you've had with a client's pet.

I have had several moments with our clients that remind me why I love this work! One that stands out in particular is a moment I had with Banjo. Banjo is an amazing dog who requires a slower, thoughtful introduction before he’s ready to give you his seal of approval. There was a moment I shared with him during an overnight service where Banjo jumped up in bed with me and gave me a good snuggle. I have had this same experience different times throughout my career and it never gets old earning a dog’s trust.

Q: Besides working with animals, what are your hobbies or interests?

Some of my hobbies are cooking, theatre (both attending and acting in shows!), spending time with family and friends, enjoying live music, and I love finding new spots for coffee! I also love being outdoors which is a big perk of this job.

Q: Do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them.

I don’t have any pets of my own so I like to live vicariously through work!

Q: Are there any favorite dog parks or pet-friendly spots you recommend in our area?

I love Draft and Vessel for a good, chill, pet-friendly spot! They have a good rotation of food trucks there and they are expanding their location as well!

Q: What's your go-to tip for clients looking to provide the best care for their pet?

A good tip I have for pet owners is to start leash training young - or, if you’re adopting an older dog, start as soon as you bring them home! Begin introducing their leash and harness right away and get them accustomed to having that gear on. Start just around the house for a few minutes everyday so when it’s time to go on a walk, they’ve got the skills they need! This is especially important if you’re using a dog walking service - knowing how to walk on leash and feeling comfortable in their gear helps that process go nice and smooth for everyone involved!

Q: How would you describe the teamwork and camaraderie among our pet care team?

I think the team here at Off Leash is made up of some of the most compassionate caregivers I’ve worked with. Lori and the team have done a fantastic job and really understand what characteristics people need to succeed in this kind of work!

Q: What do you appreciate most about working with our company?

I really appreciate that even though this business has had a huge impact, we are still small and being able to participate in ways you typically wouldn’t be able to in bigger collective makes me feel like my input matter and as a former business owner myself, there is so much value in that.

Thank you for being a part of our team, Trevor!
